Antigravity's $799 Follow Me Kit Trades the Headset for a Watch and Ring

Antigravity has introduced a Follow Me kit for its A1 drone that replaces the FPV headset and motion controller with a wristwatch and ring. The kit is priced at $799 in the US. The Verge

That price undercuts the original complete A1 set with headset, which cost upwards of $1,599. The $799 Follow Me set includes new full-coverage propeller guards. Existing A1 owners can buy the watch and ring accessories separately for $340 and the propeller guards for $40. Antigravity offers a 20 percent discount on accessories to buyers who prove they already own the A1 aircraft.

The pitch is simplicity. The kit enables hand launch by holding a button, after which the aircraft flies, follows and films automatically with obstacle avoidance active. No headset is required. Control shifts from immersive piloting, where you fly from the drone's point of view, to supervisory tracking, where you monitor an autonomous follow.

The watch is the primary interface. It provides a swipeable touchscreen preview of what the drone sees and allows selecting quickshots, which are short pre-set camera moves, and manual flight sliders for forward/backward and ascend/descend. Operators can leave the aircraft in autonomous follow and intervene only to adjust framing or altitude.

The ring functions as an extra button for one-handed launch and repositioning and does not add functions beyond what the watch can do. For in-shot adjustments, the system allows waving an arm to nudge the drone left, right, down, up, towards, or away while filming. That gesture input keeps the operator's attention on the activity being filmed rather than on sticks.

On hardware, the Follow Me watch screen is modular and detachable from the watchband frame via a quick-release button. The separation allows the display to be handled apart from the wrist mount, which helps with framing checks when the watch hand is occupied during sports or other action.

The A1 itself is an 8K 360 drone with a built-in 360 camera that captures 360 video directly without needing an external 360 camera attachment. 8K refers to very high resolution, and 360 means it records in all directions for reframing later. Insta360 Antigravity, which states it was incubated by Insta360, describes the system around immersive and intuitive flight with a fly first, frame later approach, supported by real-time data transmission and the ability to adjust shooting parameters on the fly. The aircraft had been scheduled for global launch in January 2026. The Follow Me introduction followed a mysterious announcement sent out on October 15 ahead of October 20. Notebookcheck

The user manual positions this kind of operation under Deep Track modes, which allow the drone to automatically follow selected shoot objects while maintaining a safe distance. In practice, that means subject lock plus separation management, with the watch handling mode selection and trim.

The wider product surface is expanding in parallel. Antigravity's official site now features a section for the A1 Follow Me Bundle alongside listings for an Antigravity Remote Controller product and an Antigravity 4G Cellular Module product, plus an A1 trade-in program where customers can trade in used gear to get an A1 for less. Regional packaging varies. Antigravity offers the A1 Explorer Bundle in Canada for CA$2,199, and states that the A1's takeoff weight exceeds 249 g when using the High-Capacity Flight Battery, a threshold that will matter for registration and operating rules in several jurisdictions.

The broader context here is that the shift is less about the watch form factor and more about removing piloting skill as a requirement for usable aerial footage. FPV headsets suit operators who want precision and immersion. A wrist preview, single-button launch and gesture nudges suit a different operator, one who wants to be filmed while moving. In my view, that is a sound split, with autonomous tracking as the default and manual flight as the override. For professional users it is worth noting the trade that comes with it, less exact framing than a practiced pilot with sticks, even with 8K 360 capture preserving reframing latitude in post. For solo creators, athletes and small crews who never had a second operator, that trade will often pencil out. What this enables over time is a drone that behaves like a tripod that follows you, not an aircraft you fly.
