Fox News turns staffer Kate DePetro into guide for young viewers

Fox News Media has hired Kate DePetro as an in-house creator to speak to younger viewers. The role is described as social-media ambassador, meaning she will front short video aimed at a young audience. The appointment was reported on 20 October, according to Variety.
She will develop original content that takes viewers behind the scenes. That covers Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, Fox Nation and other Fox Corp. properties. The brief is access to control rooms, corridors and studios rather than the anchor desk alone.
She will appear primarily on Fox News Now. That is the company's social-media outlet, launched in June to connect viewers with its shows and figures. It publishes on social platforms rather than on cable television.
She knows the building. DePetro joined as a production assistant and spent five years with Fox News Media. She most recently worked as assistant to Dana Perino, the daytime anchor and panellist on The Five.
Her LinkedIn profile lists her staff job as Anchor Producer and Assistant to Dana Perino, according to LinkedIn. That history now feeds a presenting job. An in-house creator here means a staffer employed to make social video, not a freelancer booked for one series.
The work sits inside the brand operation. David Eccleston is Fox News Media's senior vice president of brand strategy and consumer experience. His remit covers how the company presents itself to audiences beyond the live broadcast.
The hire follows fast growth on TikTok. Fox News grew from around 25,000 followers in 2024 to 12.2 million as of October 2026, according to Variety. Those figures refer to the main Fox News TikTok account across that two-year period.
DePetro arrives with her own audience. Her personal TikTok account records 22.6K followers and 516.7K likes, according to TikTok. Outside the newsroom, she co-founded Pizza to Pews, an initiative encouraging young people across the country to come to church and make friends.
For viewers, this means a simpler way in. Expect quick introductions to the hosts, producers and studios that rarely get shown on air. No new channel. No new show. Just a familiar face holding the phone.
