Believe has signed a licensing agreement to join Spotify's upcoming AI remixing tool, with the two companies confirming the deal on 20 October 2026 from Paris and New York City.

The tool will let fans create their own covers and remixes of songs by participating artists. It will sit inside Spotify as a paid add-on for Spotify Premium subscribers, meaning listeners will pay extra on top of a standard subscription to use it Billboard.

The Believe deal covers two sets of rights. That is recorded music rights, which control the finished recording, and publishing rights, which control the underlying song and lyrics. Spotify has said its model for licensed covers and remixes allows artists and songwriters to directly share in the value generated Spotify.

Consent is central to how Believe will take part. Believe and TuneCore will use a two-step opt-in, under which artists first agree to take part in AI-related programmes in general, then give a separate agreement for the Spotify partnership specifically.

Spotify first outlined the remixing tool at its Investor Day Conference in May. Universal Music Group was the first record label to sign on.

Other agreements have followed since. Merlin, the licensing body for independent labels and distributors, signed its deal on 4 August for covers and remixes of songs from its members' artists and songwriters Music Business Worldwide. Kobalt, which works in music publishing, signed on 13 August, with its agreement described as grounded in consent, credit and compensation for participating songwriters.

The deals sit inside a wider collaboration. Spotify has said Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Merlin and Believe are working with it to develop what it calls artist-first AI music Spotify.

For fans, this means the remixes will be limited to catalogues whose owners have agreed. Only artists who complete both opt-in steps at Believe and TuneCore will be available to remix.
