Mandeep Dhillon begins filming writer-starring short in the U.K.

Mandeep Dhillon has started production on The Things I Want to Do to You, a short psychological drama she wrote and will star in, according to Variety. Cameras are rolling in the U.K. Dhillon is known to television viewers as an actor in MobLand.
A short film is a brief, self-contained screen story, usually well under an hour. Here Dhillon is doing two jobs at once. She created the script and she also steps into the central role.
Direction comes from Lynette Linton, a BAFTA nominee. The director guides performance, camera and tone. Linton leads the shoot day to day while Dhillon moves between writing voice and acting role.
The production is organised by producer Katie Glaister. Glaister oversees schedule, budget and the practical work of getting the film made. The short is the first project from Hazy Plant Pictures Ltd., Dhillon's own production banner — a small company an actor sets up to develop and control her own work.
The cast brings together familiar faces and newer names. Golda Rosheuvel appears alongside Scott Karim. The ensemble also includes Arabella Coombes, Eisa Latif and Saher Shah.
Filming is now under way in Britain. That means the cast and crew are shooting scenes on location. Post-production, including editing, sound and picture finishing, follows a shoot of this kind.
What makes this stand out is the level of ownership. Dhillon is not only booked for a part. She wrote it, she plays it, and she launches it through her own company.
