65-year-old swimmer killed in shark attack off South Africa's east coast

Janine Lochrenberg, 65, was killed in a shark attack off South Africa's east coast on Tuesday morning, BBC reported.
The attack happened off Orient Beach in KuGompo City, formerly known as East London, at around 08:00 local time (06:00 GMT). Lochrenberg was on a daily morning swim with her local open water swimming club when she was bitten on the thigh and upper arm.
Fellow swimmers brought her toward shore, but she died before reaching land. Her sister Margot said she held her sister's head during the return to shore and believed she bled out in the water.
Lochrenberg was a retired medical physicist and a musician, according to BBC and the Times of India. Her partner is Barbara Briceland. She was wearing a magnetic shark repellent band on her ankle at the time of the attack.
Orient Beach, in KuGompo City in the Eastern Cape, according to The Independent, was closed after the attack, along with another nearby beach. Lochrenberg's death was the first recorded fatal shark attack in South Africa this year. The country has had fewer than 10 fatal shark attacks since 2012, according to the Florida Museum's International Shark Attack File.
