Two men have been rearrested in the United Kingdom on suspicion of assisting Iran in connection with a suspected plot at an air base run by the United States, Yahoo reported.

The word rearrested indicates the men had been arrested earlier in that same inquiry and are now back in custody again. Such a further arrest allows investigators to conduct additional questioning on matters officers consider relevant to the case.

They are held at this stage on suspicion, which in Britain allows detention for questioning and evidence gathering ahead of any separate decision about a charge. Suspicion is not a finding of guilt, and a decision to charge would involve a further step to bring a case for trial.

The allegation describes help said to have been provided to Iran, with the plan itself also described as suspected. That language means the case concerns what authorities allege was being prepared at the American-operated facility, rather than an act said to have already taken place.

The site is identified only in broad terms as an air base run by the United States, a military installation operated by American forces in Britain. Such installations centre on runways and support buildings for aircraft and the personnel who maintain and fly them.

Reporting both the assistance and the plan as suspected keeps what is alleged apart from what has been proved in court. In Britain, those under arrest are entitled to seek independent legal advice, and any continued detention is subject to regular independent review.
