Roku's Howdy Picks Up U.S. Rights to The Walsh Sisters

Roku's streaming service Howdy has bought exclusive U.S. rights to the first season of The Walsh Sisters, the BBC and RTÉ drama based on Marian Keyes' novels. Deadline reported the deal on 21 October 2026. "Exclusive" means no other service in the United States can show that season.
Season 1 starts on Howdy on 5 November. Episodes will arrive weekly, so viewers get one new instalment each week rather than the whole season at once.
Cineflix Rights, the company that handles sales for the show, made the sale. Stephanie Coon is its vice president of sales in the Americas. The deal was brokered for Roku by Elias Patlakas. Robin Chacko heads Howdy.
Howdy has also agreed to take Season 2 next year, around the time the series launches in the UK and Ireland.
The show is an Irish comedy drama about five sisters. Louisa Harland leads the cast, which also includes Caroline Menton, Danielle Galligan, Máiréad Tyers, Aidan Quinn and Carrie Crowley. Stefanie Preissner adapted the novels for television. Kefi Chadwick wrote two episodes, and Ian Fitzgibbon directed the series.
RTÉ, the Irish broadcaster, says The Walsh Sisters was its highest-rated drama in two years.
The series already has a home elsewhere. Stan, an Australian streaming service, carries it exclusively in Australia, according to a February post from Stan.
Howdy is part of Roku's free, ad-supported streaming offer, so the show will reach American viewers without a separate subscription to Howdy, though Roku's own listings note that some titles on the service do require one. Howdy's catalogue already includes Weapons, Django Unchained and The Wicker Man.
For the people behind the series, a buyer in a second major market means a second season can be planned with a known audience on the other side of the Atlantic. The next confirmed dates are 5 November for the first season and next year for the second.
