The Tennessee Titans have released defensive lineman Jordan Elliott after a practice altercation that, according to NBC Sports' ProFootballTalk, included Elliott going to his car to get a gun.

The trouble started on Thursday, October 15, during a Titans practice. Elliott was ordered off the field after a scuffle with right tackle JC Latham, one of the offensive linemen he lines up against every day. Reports credited to A to Z Sports and KPRC2 say Elliott then took off his pads, left the team facility, and walked to the players' lot, where security cameras captured the scene. Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers reportedly talked him down. No one was hurt.

The Titans confirmed in a statement that an incident involving Elliott took place at the facility on October 15. After reviewing it, the team decided to release him. It said it would have no further comment.

Elliott, 28, signed a two-year, $8 million deal during the offseason. The Cleveland Browns drafted him in the third round of the 2020 draft, and he has also played for the San Francisco 49ers. He appeared in the first five games of the 2026 season for Tennessee. He did not practice on Friday, citing "personal reasons," and he was inactive for the Titans' 26-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

The team's official transactions log lists Elliott's move as a termination under an entry dated 10/20. The same October entry shows linebacker Chase Wilson released from the practice squad. The Titans also signed defensive back Erick Hallett to the practice squad in the same round of roster moves.

A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team and can be called up to the active roster, so those signings are how a club fills out its depth chart when a player leaves. Defensive linemen work in tight space at the line of scrimmage, where a single missed assignment can open a run lane for the running back. Losing one of them midseason means the coaches have to reshuffle their rotation quickly.

For fans, the bigger story is the one the team has stated most plainly: an incident happened, the club reviewed it, and it chose to cut ties. Beyond that, the Titans have not expanded on the details of the parking lot.
