Samara Weaving Joins Olivia Wilde's Holiday Comedy Naughty

Samara Weaving has joined the cast of Naughty, a holiday comedy directed by Olivia Wilde for Universal Pictures. Universal has set the film's opening for November 5, 2027, more than a year from now.
The film already had a strong ensemble. Jennifer Aniston, Peter Dinklage, Chase Sui Wonders, Regina Hall and Ike Barinholtz were cast before Weaving came on board. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Weaving will play the mistress of Barinholtz's character.
The story began on the page. Jimmy Warden wrote the script as a spec script, meaning he wrote it without a studio commissioning it first. It follows a mother played by Aniston who tries to persuade Santa Claus, played by Dinklage, to testify at her divorce hearing.
The film is produced by LuckyChap, the production company run by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara. Wilde and Warden are also producing. At Universal, the project is overseen by Sara Scott, executive vice president of production development, and Jacqueline Garell, director of production development.
Wilde's last feature before Naughty was The Invite, which A24 released in the summer. Her new film gives her a second major studio project to follow a smaller independent release.
Weaving's own year has been busy. Two of her films, Over Your Dead Body and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, were released in 2026. She has also been cast as Emma Frost, also known as The White Queen, in Marvel's X-Men, a film due to shoot in spring and summer of 2027.
For a film with a November title and a November date, the timing is easy to picture. Audiences will have to wait until then to see whether the holiday season suits the story. For now, the cast list and the date are the news.
