Serhou Guirassy scored in both halves as Borussia Dortmund beat Sabah 2-1 in Baku on Tuesday night, a Champions League win built on one striker's two finishes.

The Champions League is Europe's top club competition. Teams from different countries play each other through the autumn and winter, and every result counts towards a place in the knockout rounds. For Dortmund, this was their third match of the 2026/27 season and their second away game. The kickoff was 6:45 p.m. Central European Summer Time, and the match was broadcast live on DAZN.

Guirassy put Dortmund ahead in the 10th minute, according to ESPN. Sabah pulled level before the break, so the teams were 1-1 at half-time, as Borussia Dortmund's official website reported. Guirassy struck again in the 53rd minute, and that goal proved decisive.

The match data show Dortmund were the more dangerous side. ESPN recorded expected goals, a measure of how good the chances a team creates are, at 3.72 for Dortmund and 1.47 for Sabah. Dortmund also had 55 per cent of the ball to Sabah's 45 per cent.

UEFA's official list of Player of the Match awards named Guirassy as the standout performer of the night. He was the one who kept the scoreboard moving, and the award reflects that.

Dortmund have been here before with him. In September, he scored two late goals to beat Villarreal 2-1 in their opening Champions League match, a win that came from the bench of his own control rather than from any easy chance.

Dortmund trained on Wednesday at the Qarabag Agdam club facilities in Baku, the team's last session in the city before heading home, according to the club's website.

For Sabah, the result is a hard one to take at home. They created less, held less of the ball and conceded twice to a forward who has now scored his way into the conversation for the competition's top attackers. For Dortmund, it is a win on the road, and in a tournament that rewards points, that counts for a great deal.
