Rodrigo Teixeira to Receive First Árbol de la Vida Visionary Award at GLAFF

Producer Rodrigo Teixeira will receive the first Árbol de la Vida Visionary Award on Nov. 6, when the GuadaLAjara Film Festival (GLAFF) opens its 16th edition in Los Angeles, Variety reports. The award is new this year, and Teixeira is its inaugural recipient.
Wagner Moura will present the award ahead of a screening of Paper Tiger, the James Gray film that Teixeira produced. A producer is the person who puts a film together and oversees its financing and making. The award recognises people who have had a lasting impact on cinema and who have strengthened ties between Latin America and the international film industry.
Teixeira runs the production company RT Features. Its credits include Call Me by Your Name, The Lighthouse, The Witch and Invisible Life. He has earned two best picture Oscar nominations, for Call Me by Your Name and for Walter Salles' I'm Still Here, which went on to win the Oscar for best international feature. Paper Tiger is his third film with Gray, after Ad Astra and Armageddon Time.
GLAFF is the Los Angeles offshoot of the Guadalajara International Film Festival, known by its Spanish initials as FICG. The 16th edition runs Nov. 5 to 7. It opens with Diego Luna's Ashes and closes with Eddie Sánchez's Mexicanamerican. Ximena Urrutia is the festival's executive director.
Teixeira will also be the first mentor of the new GLAFF Co-Production Lab. The lab, developed with FICG, aims to encourage co-productions between Mexico and the United States. A co-production is a film made by filmmakers in two countries, who share its costs and credit.
The honour adds to a busy autumn for Teixeira. The Critics Choice Celebration of Cinema and Television gave him its producer award for Paper Tiger, according to a Critics Choice post dated Oct. 7. In late September, Screen Daily reported that RT Features had shot six films in 2025 that were playing the festival circuit, and that Teixeira had brought five of them to Festival do Rio.
