David Krumholtz was not at the 10 Things I Hate About You reunion on Dancing with the Stars, and he has explained why himself.

The reunion took place on Tuesday's Dedication Night, the opening show of Season 35 of the US dance competition, in which celebrities are paired with professional dancers. It was held to support Julia Stiles, who was performing that night. Deadline reported the details.

Stiles danced with pro Ezra Sosa to Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," as a tribute to Heath Ledger, her co-star in the film. Afterwards she was joined onstage by Larisa Oleynik, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gabrielle Union, Andrew Keegan and Susan May Pratt. Krumholtz was the one face missing from the group.

On Wednesday, October 21, he posted a video to Instagram, from his account @davidkrumholtz, to explain the absence. He said he was in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York, shooting a film, and could not get to Los Angeles for the show.

He also joked about his appearance. He said he had shaved what was left of his hair, and that he did not want his bald spot to become internet fodder. He was clear, though, that this was not the reason he missed the night. Today also covered the video.

He closed with a simple message: "Anyway, love them all. Love you all."

Stiles replied under the post with "We love you Krumholtz!"

Shooting a film in the mountains and flying to Los Angeles for a live television night rarely fit in the same week. For the cast, the tribute went ahead without him, and the group photo on stage still carried the 1999 film's name on the night.
