Gap Inc. will receive the fifth annual Innovation Award presented by Amazon Fashion at the CFDA Fashion Awards, according to WWD.

The apparel company owns four brands: Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta. The award goes to people driving innovation in product, branding and storytelling, which covers how a garment is made, how a label presents itself and how it talks to shoppers.

The CFDA, or Council of Fashion Designers of America, is the New York industry body that runs the awards. Amazon Fashion is the fashion arm of Amazon, the online retailer. The prize carries its sponsor's name, so the company behind it is the one that puts the award on the table.

Richard Dickson, president and chief executive officer of Gap Inc., and Zac Posen, its executive vice president and creative director, will accept the award on the company's behalf. Posen is the designer who leads the creative direction across the brands, while Dickson runs the company as a whole.

The ceremony takes place on Monday, Nov. 2, at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Keke Palmer, the actor and singer, will host the 2026 event, which the CFDA has said will be presented by Amazon Fashion.

The award is not new. Skims, the shapewear and loungewear brand, was the inaugural recipient in 2022. Coach was named as a recipient in October 2024. At an earlier ceremony, Ava DuVernay presented the award to Jerry Lorenzo of Fear of God, the streetwear label he founded.

Gap Inc. has been a fixture of American mall shopping for decades, and its four brands sell at very different price points. The award recognises the company's work across all of them.

The ceremony is set for early November, and the CFDA has not yet said what the acceptance speeches will cover.
