The White Lotus star Adam DiMarco is attached to star in Dark Ocean, a drama set on a North Atlantic fishing boat, The Hollywood Reporter reported on Thursday, 22 October.

DiMarco is set to play Hákon, a 28-year-old Canadian-born Icelander who joins a trawler crew for his first long voyage at sea. He will share the screen with two well-known Icelandic actors. Baltasar Kormákur is set to play Captain Andri, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is attached to play a character called Höddi.

The film is the debut feature from Glassriver, an Icelandic production company. Its co-owner, the director Baldvin Z, is directing and producing. He is known for the features Life in a Fishbowl, Let Me Fall and Jitters. In August 2025, Glassriver launched a dedicated film division, which Baldvin Z also leads, according to Deadline.

Screenwriter Matthías Tryggvi Haraldsson wrote the script. Guðgeir Arngrímsson produces for Glassriver, and Christine Haebler produces for Terminal City Pictures, the Canadian company that co-produces the film. A co-production means two companies from different countries share the work and the costs. Valdís Óskarsdóttir is the editor, and Anne Nikitin is the composer.

Filming is due to begin in March 2027. The shoot is planned across Iceland and St. John's, the capital of Newfoundland in eastern Canada. The film is in Icelandic and English.

On the selling side, Rocket Science is handling worldwide sales. That means the company will offer the finished film to cinema and streaming distributors in different countries, a step that often shapes where a film is seen and when.

The project has been building for some time. In August 2025, Variety reported that Dark Ocean was one of 21 projects picked for the Haugesund Nordic Co-Production Market, a meeting in Norway where filmmakers pitch to financiers and sales companies. Last October, Glassriver introduced the lead cast live from Haugesund at the Norwegian International Film Festival, according to a post on the company's Facebook page.

Attached means the actor is linked to the role and the project has named him, though it is not yet a finished deal in every detail. Filming is still five months away, so the cast and crew could still change before cameras roll.

For a film set at sea, the location list is worth noting. Iceland and Newfoundland both have long fishing traditions, and the story's cross-Atlantic setting follows the same path as its partners.
