Owain & Henry, the stage play starring Michael Sheen and Linus Roache, will be filmed during its run in Cardiff and released worldwide on National Theatre at Home, the streaming service for recorded theatre. WhatsOnStage reported the plans on 22 October 2026. The filmed version will be available to watch from 1 March 2027.

The live production runs at the Donald Gordon Theatre at Wales Millennium Centre from 5 to 28 November 2026. Previews, the performances before a show officially opens, run from 5 to 10 November. The theatre lists start times of 7.30pm from Tuesday to Saturday, with matinees at 2.30pm on Thursdays and Saturdays. Under-2s are not admitted, and the show carries a age guidance of 14 and over.

The play is a co-production, meaning two theatres made it together. Wales Millennium Centre and the Welsh National Theatre are its partners. Gary Owen wrote the script. Michael Sheen and Steffan Donnelly share the directing credit.

Sheen plays Owain Glyndŵr, the Welsh leader who rose against English rule. Linus Roache plays Henry IV, the English king. The story is set in 1400, after Glyndŵr has been declared an outlaw, and follows the conflict between the two men. Rakie Ayola plays Mared Ferch Dafydd, Owain's wife. Emily Burnett plays Catrin Ferch Owain.

Filming a live run is a common way to bring a production to people who cannot travel to the theatre. A recording made during performances keeps the staging and the audience's reactions intact, while the stream reaches viewers in other countries. The March 2027 date gives the film a release window several months after the stage run ends.

Tickets for the Cardiff run are sold through Wales Millennium Centre. Anyone wanting to see the play live should check the theatre's website for prices and availability.
