Singer and songwriter INK makes her scripted television debut on CBS' Fire Country this Friday, 23 October, where she debuts her new song "American Reject" on the show, Billboard reported.

In the episode, INK appears as the entertainment at Smokey's Bar, in a scene involving firefighter Bode Leone, played by Max Thieriot. The series follows Bode, a young convict who joins a prison-release firefighting program in Northern California to try to shorten his sentence. Inmates in the program are paired with elite firefighters to fight large, unpredictable wildfires. Thieriot has said the show draws on his own childhood in that part of the state, according to CBS.

The song and its video officially release at midnight on Friday, distributed through Vydia, a company that delivers music to streaming services on behalf of artists. INK announced the release date on Instagram, saying "American Reject" is out on 23 October.

The single follows "Big Buskin'," her debut release as a performer, which came out last fall. That project was her official debut with Big Loud Records, the Nashville label, according to Grammy.com.

Before stepping in front of a camera, INK built her reputation behind the scenes. She co-wrote Beyoncé's "16 Carriages" and "Texas Hold 'Em," as well as "Luther," a song by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. A songwriter writes songs that other artists record and perform, and their names appear in the credits.

Paramount's press materials list "All I Got" as the song INK will perform on the show. The episode airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and streams on Paramount+ the following day. The show's fifth season premiered on CBS on 9 October.

The series' official Facebook account has also announced that INK will bring her music live to Edgewater at Smokey's this fall. No date for that appearance has been given.

For listeners who know INK mainly from songs written for other people, the week puts her own name on screen and on a new release at the same time.
