Comedian Matt Friend has joined Prime Video's postgame show for Thursday Night Football as a recurring contributor, meaning he will return regularly rather than appear once. Deadline reported the move.

The show is TNF Nightcap, the program that follows the game on Prime Video, the streaming service run by Amazon. Friend's segment is called The Friend Zone with Matt Friend. It debuts tonight, Thursday, October 22, after the Patriots vs. Bears game.

The segment will feature original sketches, celebrity impressions, and comedy takes on sports and entertainment. Impressions are where Friend first made his name. He has built more than 6 million followers on social media with them.

Friend also has television credits outside sport. In April 2026 he created and starred in America Laughs With Matt Friend, a political comedy special for CNN.

Nightcap has given comedians a regular spot before. Nikki Glaser appeared on the show in 2024 as part of its Late Hits segment, and made five appearances in total.

For viewers, the change is simple. The postgame hour, which many fans watch after the final whistle, now includes a comedy slot with a performer known for his voices and impersonations. For Friend, it is a steady weekly platform on a national sports broadcast, rather than a one-off guest appearance.

Thursday Night Football has become a fixture of the NFL's weekly schedule, and its supporting programming has grown alongside the games. Postgame shows give networks and streamers a chance to try formats that sit between sports talk and entertainment. Friend's first segment will show how that mix works on a live Thursday night.
