World of Warcraft: Forever is getting a fourth server option at launch, and it came after Blizzard had said it had no plans for one. The official World of Warcraft account announced the role-playing player-versus-player server, known as RP-PvP, on X on October 22, 2026. GameSpot reports that Blizzard had said the previous week that it did not plan to add one.

Servers in World of Warcraft are called realms, and each realm follows a ruleset, meaning the rules for how players meet and fight. RP-PvP is for role-players, who act out their characters, and it follows the rules of the PvP realms, where players can attack other players. Blizzard describes it as a home for role-players who prefer those rules. Earlier versions of the game, including WoW Classic, also had RP-PvP servers.

The three other launch rulesets are PvE, PvP and roleplaying. PvE, short for player versus environment, focuses on fighting computer-controlled enemies. Blizzard has chosen one very large server for each ruleset, rather than many smaller ones. Each ruleset works as its own community for finding groups, running dungeons and raiding. On the PvP ruleset, players can create characters for only one of the game's two factions, and Blizzard says faction balance remains an important consideration there.

Players who want a name can reserve it during Early Name Reservation, which runs from October 27 through November 3. Each player can reserve names for up to three characters. World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4.

GameSpot also reports that a Hardcore ruleset, where a character who dies is gone for good, is set to be added before Spring 2027. Streamer Asmongold's Alliance guild, Olympus, has more than 74,000 players in the beta, according to the same report. A guild is a club of players who play together and share chat and events.

The new content is also taking shape. Blizzard says Forever includes nine new dungeons across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, two of the game's continents, with level ranges from 13 to 60. Level is a character's power rank, and players rise through levels by completing quests and fights. Three level 60 raids, which are large group battles, will unlock on December 9. They are Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair. Entry to Onyxia's Lair requires the Drakefire Amulet, an item players must obtain first.

A new camping system is also coming. Players can build shared campsites where they can rest, craft and gain benefits from features made by professions, the trade skills players learn, such as cooking. The system begins with the Cooking profession's Basic Campfire.

For players planning ahead, the key dates are now set: name reservations open on October 27, and the game launches on November 4.
