Mock Prison Cell With Trump Figure Hung Above Tehran Square

A life-size display showing an actor in a Donald Trump mask inside a mock prison cell was suspended above a busy Tehran square on Wednesday, October 21, according to Reuters.

The installation was placed at Tajrish Square in northern Tehran. CTV News reported that the cell hung several stories above traffic.

The display drew crowds, and people were photographed taking selfies in front of it, according to the Times of Israel. That outlet's headline described the work as a propaganda installation.

The state-affiliated Mehr News Agency had earlier published a video report titled "Tehran unveils billboard depicting Trump behind bars." Other outlets framed the display differently. ThePrint published an article describing it as an art installation depicting Trump in a Tehran prison.

The New York Times reported on the billboard on October 22, 2026, describing it as a live impersonator of the US president locked in a jail cell above one of the city's busiest squares.
