The Trump administration is considering moving the White House press corps out of the White House, the New York Times reported. The press corps is the group of reporters who cover the president and the White House on a regular basis.

President Trump has talked about replacing the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room with an indoor swimming pool. He also posted a before-and-after image on Truth Social, the social media platform he uses, suggesting the briefing room could be turned back into a swimming pool, according to CBS News.

Separately, Trump has blocked reporters from The Associated Press from Air Force One, the Oval Office and other areas with limited space for the press. In those areas, a small group of reporters, known as the press pool, cover events and share their reporting with other news organizations. The restrictions were reported by CNN.

The White House Correspondents' Association, the organization that represents reporters who cover the White House, condemned the White House's decision to restrict the access of journalist Andrew Feinberg. The decision followed a verbal clash between Feinberg and Trump, according to The Hill.

The dispute over press access is not limited to the White House. In October 2025, U.S. news outlets rejected a press access policy issued by the Pentagon, the headquarters of the Department of Defense. In March 2026, a U.S. judge appeared likely to block the Pentagon's restrictive new policy on press access, Reuters reported.
