Bloom Energy Posts $1.24 Billion Quarter, Raises 2026 Forecast

Bloom Energy reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $1,235.8 million, up 138.1% from a year earlier, and raised its full-year 2026 guidance. The results were released on October 22, 2026, in a press release on the company's investor site headlined "Bloom Energy Reports Record Third Quarter 2026 Financial Results and Raises Full Year 2026 Guidance." The company trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BE, and the release was also distributed through Business Wire.
The profit lines moved in the same direction. Gross margin, which is gross profit (revenue minus the direct cost of making and delivering the product) as a share of revenue, came in at 33.8%, up 453 basis points. A basis point is one-hundredth of a percentage point, so the improvement is roughly 4.5 percentage points. Operating income, the profit left after cost of sales and operating expenses, was $225.4 million. On the reported revenue, that works out to an operating margin of about 18%, and the 33.8% gross margin implies gross profit of roughly $418 million.
The sequential picture is worth separating from the year-over-year headline. On July 28, 2026, Bloom reported second-quarter revenue of $1.065 billion, the first quarter in which the company passed $1 billion, along with 166% year-over-year growth for that period. Third-quarter revenue is about $171 million above that figure, or roughly 16% higher quarter on quarter. The year-over-year growth rate slowed from 166% to 138.1%, but the comparison base is larger. Fast-growing businesses typically show slower percentage growth as their prior-year quarters get bigger, and the dollar increments are still substantial.
Bloom said it raised its full-year 2026 outlook alongside the quarter, and the revised range is the figure to set against prior expectations. Guidance is management's forecast, not a realized result.
For anyone building a model, the distinction matters. A raise reflects the company's own view of the rest of the year, and nothing in the quarter's numbers alone establishes that the pace will hold through the fourth quarter.
The timing was pre-announced. On October 12, 2026, Bloom said it would release third-quarter results on October 22, giving the market ten days' notice of the date. That is standard practice for a listed company, so the date was no surprise. Only the content was.
In my view, the most useful number here is the 453 basis point gross margin expansion, not the revenue figure. Revenue growth at this rate is easy to report and easy to over-read. Margin expansion at a higher revenue base is the better test of whether unit economics are improving, or whether growth is being bought with pricing or cost timing that could reverse. One quarter cannot settle that. Investors judging durability will want several more quarters of gross margin data alongside the revised guidance, and they will want to see whether operating margin, near 18% on these figures, moves in step with gross margin as operating expenses scale.
The broader point is that Bloom has now reported two consecutive quarters of revenue growth above 100% year over year, with the second quarter crossing $1 billion. The third quarter adds a profit line that rose alongside revenue rather than falling behind it. Whether that combination holds is the open question. The raised outlook is the company's own statement on that point.
