Trump's Midterm Tour Stops in Iowa With Sioux City Rally

President Donald Trump's midterm campaign tour stopped in Iowa this week, where he held a rally in Sioux City on October 22, 2026. The stop was aimed at rallying voters ahead of the midterm elections.
Rep. Ashley Hinson appeared with Trump at the rally. NBC News reported that the event was held to boost Republican candidates ahead of the midterms.
On the same day, the White House published a release titled "Iowa Wins Big Under President Trump: Lower Taxes, New Investment, and Stronger Rural Communities." The release is part of the administration's case for the state's economy and its rural areas.
The visit also builds on an economic announcement from late September. Trump announced that a $15 billion steel complex from Mesabi Metallics is coming to Iowa. The White House described the planned plant as one of the largest steel plants in American history, according to its own release from September 28, 2026.
NPR published its report on the stop on October 23, 2026. Sheila Brummer reported the story for NPR's Morning Edition.
