Angry scenes were reported in the Senedd, the Welsh Parliament in Cardiff Bay, as Reform UK members called for a ban on burkas, the BBC reported.

The proposal covers Muslim religious face coverings, such as the burka. Reform UK has previously said that if it won power it would ban face coverings in public places, including burkas and balaclavas. The BBC reported that position on 21 October.

On the same day, Reform UK used a Senedd debate to say that face coverings are "against British values", according to WalesOnline. Zaynub Akbar MS, a member of the Senedd, described the party's call for a ban as divisive politics.

Politicians continued the debate in Cardiff Bay on 22 October, WalesOnline reported. GB News said that during the debate Reform members were compared to Nazis, a claim it described as anti-British in its coverage. GB News published that account on 21 October.

Protests were also held at the Senedd over Reform's call for the ban, according to the BBC, which reported on 23 October.
