Position Music Hires Pete Robinson as Nashville Creative Chief

Position Music has appointed Pete Robinson as General Manager, Creative Nashville, according to Music Business Worldwide, which published the news on 23 October 2026.
The new role puts Robinson in charge of the creative side of the company's Nashville operation. He will report to Position Music's founder and chief executive, Tyler Bacon, and to its president, Mark Chipello.
His first job is to work with the songwriters and artists the company has already signed in Nashville. He will also build a creative team in the city, which is the centre of the American country music business and a hub for songwriting.
Robinson has spent more than 30 years in the music business. Close to 20 of those years were spent as a music publisher in Nashville. A music publisher looks after the songs a writer creates, finds them recordings and collects money when those songs are used.
He was a founding partner of Big Deal Music, a publishing company. Before he moved into publishing, he was Senior Vice President of A&R at RCA, the record label. A&R, short for artists and repertoire, is the label department that finds new artists and helps shape their music. Robinson later held the same job at Epic, another label.
He stayed with Big Deal through its transition to Hipgnosis, the investment company that bought it, and remained there until 2022. He then set up Pete Robinson Consulting.
The appointment brings a long-serving Nashville publisher and a former label talent executive into a company that is growing its presence in the city. Neither Position Music nor the report has said how many people will join his team, or when that team will be in place.
For songwriters, a creative lead of this kind is usually the person who decides which writers to sign, which projects to back and how to pitch their songs to artists and record makers. Those choices shape how many songs reach the public each year. Position Music has not yet said how it will organise that work under Robinson.
