Jane Wiseman Leaves Paramount+, and Its Originals Team Moves Under HBO Max's Sarah Aubrey
Jane Wiseman is leaving Paramount+, and the originals team she led will now report to Sarah Aubrey, head of original programming at HBO Max. Deadline reported the change on Friday.
Wiseman was the streaming service's executive vice president and head of originals for 14 months. Originals are shows a streamer commissions for itself, rather than buying from another network. Under her, Paramount+ ordered 28 new series across scripted, unscripted and kids and family programming. It also renewed 16 existing shows, meaning it chose to make more seasons.
Her exit comes during a reshuffle at the company. Paramount's acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery officially closed on Oct. 6. Cindy Holland, who had been chair of Paramount's direct-to-consumer division, the part of the business that runs streaming, left just before the deal closed. Casey Bloys is now co-chair and chief content officer of direct-to-consumer for the combined company. He oversees programming for HBO, HBO Max and Paramount+, according to Variety, which reported that he set out the new structure in a memo to staff.
Wiseman also oversaw the content side of folding BET+ into Paramount+. Her first two scripted orders, Discretion, starring Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning, and The Best Of Us, headlined by Jeremy Strong, are now in production, which means they are being filmed.
Wiseman joined Paramount+ in August 2025. Before that she was head of U.S. television at Sister for a little over a year. She spent 10 years at Netflix, rising to vice president of original series and head of comedy, and she was one of Holland's first two hires when Holland became Paramount's global chief executive. Her earlier roles include stints at Chernin Entertainment, NBCUniversal and Fox.
Sarah Aubrey has run original programming at HBO Max since 2019, before the service launched. Earlier, she was executive vice president of original programming at TNT and a television and film producer at Film 44.
For the crews on Discretion and The Best Of Us, the shows keep moving through production, and the executive above them has changed.
