Five actors have joined the cast of the untitled sequel to Crawl, the alligator thriller from 2019. The Hollywood Reporter reported the casting on 23 October. The new names are Sarah Niles, Ray Panthaki, Richard Brake, Charley Palmer Rothwell and Flula Borg.

Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd were announced earlier as the leads. The film is set for theatrical release on 16 July 2027, which means cinemas, not streaming, are the planned first stop.

Alexandre Aja directs from a script he co-wrote with Jason Harry Pagan, Andrew Deutschman and Gregory Levasseur. Aja produces alongside Craig Flores and Sam Raimi. Levasseur, Kevan Van Thompson and Zainab Azizi are credited as executive producers, the people who usually help line up the money and the deals behind the scenes.

The studio behind the project is Paramount. The Hollywood Reporter reported in 2024 that the sequel was being made for Paramount and would bring a new cast and a new location. SciFi Now has since reported that the attacks move to New York.

The first film is a useful benchmark for the studio. It opened in cinemas in 2019 with Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper in the leading roles, and it went on to pass $91 million worldwide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

With the title still unset, the cast list is the clearest picture so far of who will be on screen when the film arrives next summer.
