Kartik Aaryan Takes the Controls in 'Captain India', a Yemen Rescue Drama Set for August 2027

Kartik Aaryan will play a pilot in "Captain India," an action drama set amid the Houthi conflict in Yemen, and the film opens in Indian cinemas on August 13, 2027. Variety reported the release date and the story this week.
The film is based on a real humanitarian evacuation. Aaryan's character leads the rescue effort, and the story draws on India's 2015 evacuation of Indian citizens from Yemen, along with people from other countries. Yemen has been torn by civil war for years, and the Houthis are one of the main armed groups fighting there.
It is also a first for Aaryan, who has never played a pilot before. To prepare, he took flying lessons, Deccan Chronicle reported in August.
Shimit Amin directs. The screenplay is by Nash Vazifdar, Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Shrivastava. The film is produced by T-Series and Baweja Studios in association with Dopamine Studios, the production banner Aaryan runs. Bhushan Kumar of T-Series is among the producers.
The project has been around for a long time. Indian Express reported that the film was in development for nearly five years before it moved into production. Principal photography began in London on September 1, 2026, and Variety reports the shoot is still underway in the UK. In September, Amin shared a handwritten note with the cast and crew, thanking them for their work.
The release date is set for the Independence Day weekend in India. India marks its independence on August 15, and a film that opens on August 13 gets the holiday crowds for its first few days. The date is a plan for now, and it can move, as release dates often do in the long run-up to a film's launch.
For fans, the timing gives them close to a year to wait, with the full cast and crew still on the shoot. Aaryan's pilot training and the London location work are the details to watch as the film moves toward its August 2027 release.
