Aaron Paul's Clayface Role Is a Brief Cameo, Director Says

Aaron Paul is in DC Studios' Clayface, but only for a short moment. Director James Watkins confirmed to Deadline that Paul plays Matt's father, and he called the appearance a brief Easter egg, a small nod for viewers who spot it.
The character matters to the story. Tom Rhys Harries plays Matt Hagen, a rising actor who turns into the shape-shifting villain Clayface. Paul plays the father who raised Matt in the slums of Gotham City. Yahoo describes him as Matt's abusive father, and it reports that Paul's part was once larger before it was cut down to a cameo.
The cameo comes near the end of the film. In a scene set at Club Vesuvius, Matt changes into several people to fight the goons of Szabo, the mafioso played by David Dencik. According to IGN, Matt tracks down the hooded man who killed his father, then morphs into his father's form. Matt takes that shape to kill Jimmy "One Nut," played by Enzo Squillino Jr.
Flashbacks showing Paul as Matt's father did not make the final cut, Deadline reports. Watkins walked Entertainment Weekly through the cameo in a recent interview, explaining how the moment fits into the film.
For viewers who know Paul from his television work, the cameo is easy to miss. The scene is quick, and the film gives it little room. Naomi Ackie plays Dr. Caitlyn Corr, and the cast also includes Dencik as Szabo and Squillino Jr. as Jimmy.
