Miracle in Cell No. 7 Director Lee Hwan-kyung Takes the Reins of Indonesian Drama Gasigogi

Korean filmmaker Lee Hwan-kyung is directing Gasigogi, a father-son drama that is now in production with Falcon Pictures, Variety reported on 24 October 2026.
The film follows Jiwa, a father who gives up everything to save his son, Juna, who has blood cancer. Vino G. Bastian plays the lead role. Pevita Pearce is co-lead, and Faradina Mufti plays Chitra. Indra Jegel is also part of the ensemble.
The supporting cast includes Altaaf Akavi, Indro Warkop, Dea Panendra, Sadana Agung, Irma Novita Rihi, Luisa Adreena, Pritt Timothy, Verdi Solaiman and Kiki Narendra. Falcon Pictures unveiled the cast together with Hwantasy Entertainment.
Lee has a track record with this kind of material. He directed the Korean film Miracle in Cell No. 7, and Bastian starred in the Indonesian remake of that film. Lee has said he made Miracle in Cell No. 7 as a gift for his daughter, and he has dedicated Gasigogi to his son.
Lee describes Gasigogi as an original work. He says it "breathes with Indonesian lungs," and it was shot in Indonesia. That makes it a film built around local people and places rather than a version of a story made elsewhere.
The title comes from the stickleback, a small fish. In that species the male guards the eggs, and once the young hatch, they may feed on him. The image of a parent giving everything for the next generation sits close to the film's own story.
For Indonesian audiences, the project brings together a familiar lead in Bastian and a Korean director with a major name in his home market. For Lee, it is his first announced project since the earlier film. Release dates and distribution plans have not been announced.
