North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has arrived in Dandong, a Chinese border city, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, which reported the arrival on October 24, 2026. Yonhap said Kim reached Dandong after crossing a newly opened bridge between the two countries.

The bridge is the New Yalu River Bridge, which connects North Korea's border city of Sinuiju with Dandong on the Chinese side. It spans the Amnok River, the waterway that forms part of the border between the two countries. Yonhap described the crossing as a four-lane road bridge.

The bridge opened on October 15, 2026, after what Yonhap described as 12 years of construction and delays. Yonhap and Al Jazeera both reported on the arrival, citing South Korean media. The bridge is 3 km (2 miles) long, according to Reuters, which also reported Kim's arrival in China citing Yonhap.

Yonhap's report cited a South Korean government source for the information about Kim's arrival.

Dandong is a hub for travel and commerce with North Korea, according to The New York Times. The city sits across the river from Sinuiju, and the new bridge adds a road link between the two border cities.
