Leinster come back from 13-0 down to beat Munster in Dublin derby

Leinster beat Munster 24-18 on Saturday at the Aviva Stadium, recovering from a half-time deficit to win a derby in the United Rugby Championship (URC), the league for club teams from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Italy and South Africa.
Munster started much the better. Shane Daly crossed for an early try, and Charlie O'Shea added eight points with his boot, giving the visitors a 13-0 lead. A try, touching the ball down over the opponent's line, is worth five points, and it is usually the biggest prize in the game.
Leinster trailed 5-13 at the interval, but the second half belonged to the home side. They scored four tries, through Tommy O'Brien, Ryan Baird, Charlie Tector and Jamie Osborne. Jamison Gibson-Park was at the heart of much of it, with three try assists, a credit given to the player whose pass sets up a try.
Munster were not finished. Ben O'Connor crossed in the final minute, and that try was enough to secure a losing bonus point. Bonus points are extra league points that reward effort, awarded for scoring four or more tries or for losing by seven points or fewer. Leinster took the bonus point for their win as well, so the result was worth more to them than a simple victory.
The match was the fourth round of the URC this season, and the derby carried extra weight for the two provinces, who share a city and a long rivalry. Leinster's comeback is the kind of afternoon that tends to be remembered: a side trailing by eight at the break, and then scoring four tries in the second half.
For Munster, there is pride in a late try and a point from a defeat, but they will know that the first half gave the game away. Playing from behind is hard work in rugby, because the team with the lead can control possession and the clock. Leinster, by contrast, had to keep their nerve and keep the ball moving until the gaps appeared.
