National releases 100-day plan of first actions if re-elected

The National Party has released a 100-day plan setting out the actions it would take first if it is re-elected. Party leader Christopher Luxon unveiled the plan at a rally in Browns Bay, Auckland.
The plan has 26 points and pulls together announcements National has made during the election campaign. The party said in a statement earlier this month that, if re-elected, it would legislate and direct five key commitments in its first 100 days to make New Zealand more attractive and affordable. Among the points in the plan are:
- legislation to extend paid parental leave
- an update to consent laws, the rules that govern building and resource consents
- a request for the Commerce Commission, the government's competition regulator, to investigate the Foodstuffs split
- the release of a Budget Policy Statement, the document that sets out the government's priorities for the Budget
- a trade mission to India
Each of these is a plan or pledge. None has been carried out, and the plan does not set out a timetable for each item beyond the 100-day period.
The election is on 7 November. National has said that if it is re-elected on that date, it will not introduce new taxes. National
In November 2023, Luxon unveiled an earlier 100-day plan that contained 49 actions for the government he led.
