Nashville SC have won the Supporters' Shield, the trophy for the top team in Major League Soccer (MLS, the United States and Canada's top league) over the regular season. They did it with a 2-0 win at CF Montreal on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

The Shield is awarded for finishing first across the whole season, not for winning a single game. Nashville's regular-season record now stands at 21 wins, 3 defeats and 7 draws, giving them 70 points. Points are how the table is scored: three for a win, one for a draw. Major League Soccer confirmed the club clinched the trophy on the day, the first Supporters' Shield in their history.

Nashville's first goal came in the 52nd minute. Reed Baker-Whiting swung in the cross, and Sam Surridge got on the end of it to score. It was his 18th goal of the season, the most of anyone at the club. The Guardian reported the goal and the wider result.

Hany Mukhtar added the second in the 76th minute, which settled the game. Nashville have now gone seven matches without a loss, with five wins and two draws in that run.

For Montreal, the night ended in disappointment. The defeat leaves them with 6 wins, 18 defeats and 7 draws, and 25 points. They have now been officially knocked out of contention for the MLS Cup Playoffs, the postseason knockout tournament that decides the league champion.

There was one debut worth noting. Samsy Keita, a 17-year-old homegrown player, which means a player who came through the club's own youth system, made his first MLS appearance in goal for Montreal. Few players reach the first team that young, and a teenage keeper facing a team at the top of the table is a demanding first night.

Nashville's win also matters for the playoffs ahead. As the top team, they have home-field advantage at GEODIS Park throughout the postseason, which means every playoff match at their own stadium. Having that edge can count for a lot in a short knockout run, when a home crowd and familiar surroundings can make the difference in tight games.

It is a notable moment for a club that has grown quickly. This is the club's second title overall, according to MLS. Nashville's clinching win had been set up for weeks. A 4-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on October 14 had already stretched their lead at the top of the table to 14 points, so the title was never really in doubt once the final weeks arrived.

For Nashville fans, the Shield is the reward for a long season of consistency. For Montreal, the focus now turns to finishing the season well and building on the young players they gave minutes to. The playoffs start the next chapter, and Nashville will host them.
