Indonesia's myths and history are set to become films and series under a new venture that pairs an Indian studio's AI filmmaking tools with a government-backed economic zone. Variety reported the plan on 25 October 2026.

The partners are Historyverse, Galleri5 and Singhasari Special Economic Zone. A special economic zone is a designated area where the government offers easier business rules to attract investment. Historyverse handles original intellectual property (IP, meaning the rights to a story and its characters) and studio work for Collective Artists Network. Under the venture, it will lead creative development, production and IP packaging for the Indonesia projects.

The venture will cover mythology, fantasy, history and animation. Its first project under discussion is a working title, Echoes of Nusantara, described as an original mythology-adventure. Nusantara is the traditional name for the Indonesian archipelago. No broadcaster, release date or budget has been announced for it.

Galleri5 brings the technology. Its main product, G5 AI Studio, combines more than 200 AI models with tools for storyboarding, character and world design, animation, visual effects and film-quality video. Galleri5 says more than 10,000 ads and videos have been made on the platform. Rahul Regulapati is the founder and chief executive of Galleri5 and a partner at Collective Artists Network.

The same technology has a track record on a much bigger title. Galleri5 built and ran the AI filmmaking system behind Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh, the series made by Collective Artists Network and launched by JioStar. The show airs on Star Plus and JioHotstar in India. An AI-powered trailer was released ahead of its debut in 2025, and it has been billed as India's first AI-enabled series. Creative teams at Galleri5 used the tools to build the epic's world.

Historyverse's theatrical slate already includes Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal and Krishna. The Indonesia venture adds a new market to that list. Vijay Subramaniam is the founder and group chief executive of Collective Artists Network.

Singhasari will introduce the venture to Indonesian creators, studios, investors, distributors and creative-economy institutions. Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesia's coordinating minister for economic affairs, chairs the National Council for Special Economic Zones. The creative economy, the broad sector of film, music, games and design, is a government priority in several Southeast Asian countries.

For viewers, the practical question is when Indonesian myths reach a screen. It does not yet give a schedule, a platform or a list of writers and crew.
