King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was open for domestic flights on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, after its operations had been halted following an attack on the facility.

Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation, the country's airport regulator known as GACA, said in a follow-up statement on the attack that operations at the Riyadh airport were temporarily suspended. GACA issued its most recent update on October 22, 2026.

The suspension came after multiple strikes by the Houthi movement, a armed group based in Yemen, on the Saudi capital. Those strikes preceded the decision to reopen the airport to domestic traffic, according to Review Journal, which reported the reopening on October 21.

The reopening covered domestic flights only.

King Khalid International is the main airport serving Riyadh, the Saudi capital, and it is one of the country's largest transport hubs. Travelers and airlines planning flights to or from the city are advised to check GACA and their carriers for current information.
