Mary Peltola, the Democrat running for Alaska's lone seat in the US Senate, and her family suffered minor injuries in a car crash on Saturday, October 24, The Guardian reported. Her campaign manager, Cheryl Bruce, said Mary and her family sustained minor injuries and are in good spirits. Peltola is a former US Representative, and she is challenging Republican incumbent Senator Dan Sullivan.

Peltola and her family were on their way to the Alaska Federation of Natives annual banquet when another vehicle crashed into theirs. Anchorage police responded to a multi-vehicle collision at about 6:55pm on Saturday. Peltola required medical attention after the collision.

Peltola's family and the occupant of a second vehicle were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Guardian report. The occupant of a third vehicle refused medical transport. Anchorage police said the circumstances of the collision are under investigation.

The crash also disrupted the campaign calendar. Peltola's Alaska Always tour, an eight-stop push in the last week before election day, was delayed. Her upcoming events in Fairbanks and Bethel will be rescheduled for later in the week on medical advice as she recovers, NBC News and Politico reported.

Her campaign said she will resume events on Tuesday with a stop in Homer, Alaska.
