Spanish bathroom maker Roca has released a toilet that hides its water tank inside the bowl itself. The product, called the Avant, was reported by Dezeen on 26 October 2026.

Most toilets have a cistern, the tank that holds the water used to flush. It usually sits behind the seat or on the wall. On the Avant, the cistern sits within the bowl, so there is no separate tank to see. The floor-standing model has no external cistern at all. The wall-hung version has no concealed cistern and no flush plate, the panel that usually hides the tank behind the wall.

The Avant does not need electricity to work. Roca also offers an electric version, the Avant-E, for buildings where water pressure or flow is too weak for the standard model. Flushing uses a system based on the Venturi effect, a principle of physics that describes how fast-moving water changes pressure as it passes through a narrowing. The toilet also has a dual-flush option, letting users choose a smaller or larger flush, and side-mounted flush buttons.

Other features include a soft-close seat and cover, which lower slowly rather than slamming. Roca says the bowl uses its Rimless Vortex flushing, a design without the rim that holds water under the edge of many toilets. The whole piece is coated in a finish called Supraglaze, which the company says reduces the build-up of dirt, germs and residue. Roca's product page describes the system as seal-free, with no seals between the cistern and the bowl.

Roca has said the integrated tank saves space. In a 2025 company news item, the firm said the Avant can save up to 20 centimetres compared with conventional toilets that are installed against a front wall. For the wall-hung model with an integrated In-Tank cistern, Roca lists its dimensions as 565 by 385 by 475 millimetres.

Roca was founded in Spain in 1917 and says it sells in 170 countries. For bathroom planners, a toilet with a hidden tank can mean more floor space in a small room. For homeowners, it means one less part to clean around.
