Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition Moves to Early 2027

Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition has been delayed to early 2027, publisher Inin Games has said.
The game was originally expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, the final three months of the year. Eurogamer reports that Inin Games is taking more time because development needs to "get everything right."
The Enhanced Edition is an upgraded release of Shenmue III, the third instalment in the cult series. It was first revealed in August 2025. The original Shenmue III was developed by Ys Net, and the Enhanced Edition is being prepared for four platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2.
Owners of the original Shenmue III on PS4 and PC will be offered an upgrade path to the new version. Inin Games has not tied that offer to a separate date, so it will presumably follow the launch timing. Players who already own the original will need to wait until early 2027 to see it.
Inin Games said it is making good progress and finalising the last details. The company has not given a more specific month. Push Square and Adventure Gamers both carried the update.
Delays of this kind are common in game development. A studio that adds time to polish a title is often making changes that players only notice later, such as fixes, testing and platform work. For fans, the new window is the key detail: the release is now early 2027, and the date will be the one to watch.
