Olid, Cuthbert and Weir Named on Scottish Women's Football Awards Shortlists

Eva Olid, Erin Cuthbert and Caroline Weir are all on the shortlists for the 2026 Scottish Women's Football Awards, BBC Sport reported. The awards are officially called the ScottishPower Scottish Women's Football Awards. Winners will be announced at Hampden Park, Scotland's national stadium in Glasgow, on 28 November.
A shortlist is the list of finalists picked before the winner is chosen. Olid is up for coach of the year. She is currently head coach of Manchester United, but she first made her name in Scotland. Last season she led Heart of Midlothian, usually called Hearts, to their first Scottish Women's Premier League title. The SWPL is the top division of the women's game in Scotland.
She is up against Leanne Crichton, Joelle Murray and Jack Beesley. Beesley led Spartans back to the top flight, so his nomination rewards a promotion campaign. Every one of the four has a strong case, and the judges will have a hard choice.
The player awards carry the same mix of familiar and new names. Erin Cuthbert and Caroline Weir are two of four nominees for Scotland international player of the year. The other two are Lauren Davidson and Kathleen McGovern. In the SWPL 1 player of the year category, the shortlist is Nicole Kozlova, Saoirse Noonan, Katie Wilkinson and Georgia Timms.
Weir has had a busy year. She joined Lyon from Real Madrid during the close season, the summer break between one campaign and the next. She has also been nominated for the Ballon d'Or, football's annual individual prize for the best player in the world, according to the BBC.
Being shortlisted is a moment in itself. Each name on these lists has been picked out from a full season of matches, and the winners will be known in just over a month. Until then, the nominees can enjoy the recognition.
