Agnieszka Holland Joins Documentary Short The Tuners as Executive Producer

Oscar nominee Agnieszka Holland has joined The Tuners, a 22-minute documentary short, as an executive producer, The Hollywood Reporter reported on 26 October 2026. Holland is a three-time Oscar nominee. An executive producer usually helps secure money and backing for a project rather than running the shoot day to day.
Joanna Kulig and Weronika Milczewska also hold executive producer credits on the film. Pawel Chorzepa directed it and shared cinematography with Maciej Kwasniewski. Joanna Chorzepa produced it, and Kosma Kowalczyk and Jakub Darewski edited it. Jaroslaw Bednarski, Ortwin Moreau and Hidemi Okubo feature in the film.
The Tuners is a Bees Film House production, presented by The New York Times Op-Docs, the newspaper's series of short documentaries. Op-Docs is set to release it in mid-November.
Before that release, the film has been collecting attention on the festival circuit. It has won three awards that count toward Academy Award eligibility, meaning prizes that can make a short film eligible for Oscar consideration. It was also named to the short list for DOC NYC, one of the largest documentary festivals in the United States, and selected for the IDFA market in Amsterdam. A market is the trade side of a festival, where sales agents and buyers meet to decide which films get distributed.
For a short film, the path from a local screening to a platform like the Times is often long. Each step, from festival juries to market selections, is a separate decision by a separate group of people. The Tuners has passed through several of them so far, and its November date is the next one on the calendar.
