A United Nations commission of inquiry has found that Israeli authorities and forces continue to commit genocidal acts in Gaza, even after a ceasefire agreement. The finding appears in a report published on 26 October 2026 by the UN human rights office.

The ceasefire was brokered by the United States. According to Reuters, the inquiry said Israel continued to commit genocidal acts with genocidal intent after the truce took hold.

The commission is a group of independent experts that the United Nations has commissioned to investigate. Its findings are not issued by a court, but they are published by the UN and attract wide attention. USNews reported that the experts said the ceasefire had not stopped Israel from committing genocide.

The inquiry's findings also cover the West Bank, the territory east of Israel that Israel has occupied since 1967. RTE reported that the inquiry accused Israel of committing the crime against humanity of "extermination" there. The UN human rights office's press release states that Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied territory.

The commission had addressed the treatment of children earlier in 2026. In June, it said the deliberate targeting of children was one of the key elements establishing genocidal intent by Israel. Reuters reported at the time that the inquiry said Israeli targeting of Palestinian children resulted in crimes against humanity and war crimes, as well as genocide.

The panel had earlier asserted that Israel committed genocide in the war in Gaza. A UN inquiry reported in October 2025 that Israel was responsible for four genocidal acts in Gaza, and that Israeli leaders had incited the commission of genocide.
