Indie Romantic Comedy Crazy Rich Arabs Sets Cast and Los Angeles Shoot

An independent romantic comedy called Crazy Rich Arabs has a full cast and a start date for filming in Los Angeles. The production was announced in late October 2026, and shooting was set to begin the week after the announcement, according to Deadline.
The title is easy to mix up with a bigger name. The film has no connection to Warner Bros.' Crazy Rich Asians franchise. It is a separate project, made outside the major studio system.
Omar Sharif Jr. leads the cast. Sam Asghari and Aron Kader have also been cast. Walid Chaya plays two roles, as identical twins named Youssef and Omar. The ensemble also includes Kourosh Parsapour, Lara J Barry, Sarah Siadat, George Khouri, Sophia Konat and Maya Tannous.
Peter Takla is directing. Walid Chaya wrote the script with Jimmy Monack, and Chaya and Sharif Jr. are both executive producers. Moonlit Wings Productions is producing the film. Rawan Chaya will write the original music and soundtrack.
For a film of this kind, the schedule is the first big decision. Independent productions often begin shooting soon after cast is set, because actors, locations and crews are booked on tight timetables. A start date in Los Angeles means the production has chosen a home base for the shoot, with its locations and crew close at hand.
Casting announcements like this one are an early step. A film still has to finish shooting, be edited, and find a distributor before any audience sees it. Those next steps have not been announced.
Sharif Jr.'s name carries a family history. He is the son of the actor Omar Sharif.
The announcement gives the public a clear list of names and roles to follow as the film moves from set to screen.
