Lilly Wachowski has joined the comedy Making A Bridesmaid as an executive producer, and the finished film is set to go on sale worldwide at the American Film Market, according to Deadline.

Her production company, Anarchists United, has also joined the project, which is now a completed feature. The film was written, directed by and stars Molly Ratermann. She plays one of two outcast sisters, opposite Emily Kincaid, who is also one of the executive producers.

The ensemble includes Serra Naiman, Wilder Yari, Alex Sgambati, Gina Su, Maya Butler, April Kelley and Cynthia Aileen Strahan. Other executive producers are Justin Gray, Finn Bruce, Michael D. Whitfield, Sonny Marler, Keith Rosmarin and Darren Cogan.

The film was produced by 741 Films and Little Hand Productions. It was shot on location in Lake Tahoe, California. Post-production, the final stage where editing, sound and visual effects are completed, is finished. The team is preparing a festival run for the film.

The sales plan is the next step. Finn Bruce and Belstone Pictures will launch worldwide sales at the American Film Market, the Los Angeles trade event where sales companies show finished films to distributors from around the world. A sales company licenses a film to cinemas, broadcasters and streaming services in each territory, usually one country or region at a time. Those deals often decide which countries see a film, and when.

Wachowski is best known as a film-maker, and this credit puts her name on a smaller comedy with a largely independent set-up. The film's route from here runs through festivals first, then the buyers at the market, before any release date is set.

Sales at the American Film Market are expected to be the first public test of how buyers respond to the film. For now, the film's team has a finished movie, a list of partners and a plan to take it to the market.
