Liam Neeson's action thriller The Mongoose opens in theatres on Friday, October 30, with Samuel Goldwyn Films releasing it, People reported. The film is rated R and runs 1 hour 38 minutes, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which published its review on October 28.

Neeson plays Ryan "Fang" Flanagan, a former Special Forces soldier and decorated war hero who lives with PTSD, or post-traumatic stress disorder, a condition that can follow combat. The cast also includes Marisa Tomei and Ving Rhames, along with Michael Chiklis, Marcus Thomas, Maurice Marvel Meredith and Ryan Morgan.

Mark Vanselow directs, and Thompson Evans wrote the screenplay. For Vanselow, this is a first turn in the director's chair. He is a long-time stunt performer and stunt coordinator, and The Hollywood Reporter says he has worked with Neeson on at least 30 films and has been his stunt double for decades. Stunt doubles perform the dangerous physical work that a star is not asked to do on camera.

That background sits at the centre of the film's appeal, as the review describes it. The Hollywood Reporter points to high-octane car chases and what it calls terrific stunt work. It also sums up the film in a single bottom-line line: "Speeds along mindlessly."

The production has a link to Australia. Variety's Australian edition reported in December 2024 that The Mongoose was the third project Neeson had filmed in the state of Victoria in four years. A April 2025 report from the same outlet said the film had begun shooting in Victoria, adding to the state's run of big overseas productions.

Ving Rhames has also listed the film among his upcoming work, Variety reported in April 2026, alongside Painter, which stars Walton Goggins.

A trailer arrived in July. The Hollywood Reporter covered it on July 15, the same day People ran its own piece on the film.

For audiences, the practical news is simple. The film opens in US theatres on Friday, October 30, and it arrives with a cast and crew that have worked together for years.
