Janusz Kamiński, one of the most decorated cinematographers working today, will receive this year's THR Visionary in Cinematography Award. The Hollywood Reporter announced the honour on 29 October 2026.

The award will be presented at the Toruń Camerimage Film Festival in Poland on 7 November. The 34th edition of the festival runs from 7 to 14 November. Camerimage is devoted to cinematography, the craft of lighting and framing the images that reach the screen.

Kamiński is a two-time Academy Award winner for Best Cinematography. He won for Schindler's List and for Saving Private Ryan, both directed by Steven Spielberg.

That partnership runs deep. Kamiński has shot 20 films with Spielberg, the most recent of them Disclosure Day. Of his seven Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography, six were for work with Spielberg.

What stands out in that record is how much of it runs through a single working relationship. A director and a cinematographer usually work together on a handful of projects. Here the pairing has produced two decades of films, and most of the awards attention Kamiński has received has come from it.

The festival will hold its events in the Polish city of Toruń over the coming week, and the Visionary honour will be one of the highlights for visitors who follow the craft of the camera.
