Montana Takes Over Danish Design Brand Takt

Montana, the furniture maker, has bought Danish design brand Takt, according to Dezeen, which reported the deal on 29 October 2026.
Takt was founded in 2019 by Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, a former executive at toy maker Lego and audio company Bang & Olufsen. The brand makes furniture from wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, a body that checks that forests are managed responsibly. Takt's existing range and its future launches will be sold under a new name, Takt by Montana.
Montana has been operating since 1982. Its furniture is designed and manufactured in Denmark, according to the company's website. Joakim Lassen is the chief executive of Montana. Lorensen will join the board of Montana Furniture.
Takt has set itself a target of becoming net zero by 2030, meaning it aims to cut its greenhouse gas emissions to near zero and offset what remains. The brand says it measures the carbon footprint of each product across its whole life, from raw materials to disposal. It uses the European Union's Product Environmental Footprint single score, a standard way of putting one number on a product's environmental impact.
Takt also says it is the only design brand that consistently has all of its products marked with the EU Ecolabel, the European Union's official eco-label for products that meet set environmental standards. That is the brand's own claim.
The design partners are staying put. TAKT by Montana will keep working with the London studio Pearson Lloyd and the Danish design firm Lysemose & de Gier, according to Montana's website.
For Montana, the collection brings solid wood and veneer into its range. Veneer is a thin layer of real wood glued over a cheaper core, a way of giving furniture a wood surface with less timber. Takt's pieces will sit alongside Montana's existing products, though the companies have not said how the two lines will be sold or priced.
The announcement did not include the value of the deal.
