Nicki Minaj Calls Kathy Hochul "an Evil Woman" in Governor's Race Posts

Rapper Nicki Minaj called New York Governor Kathy Hochul "an evil woman" in a run of X posts on Oct. 28, and urged her followers to vote for Bruce Blakeman against Hochul in the governor's race.
In one post on her official @NICKIMINAJ account, Minaj wrote that the Democratic Party should forfeit Hochul's seat. Billboard reported that she also wrote Hochul "will not escape God's wrath."
Minaj also reposted a remark Hochul made in 2024 about Black children in the Bronx who, Hochul said, "don't even know what the word 'computer' is." Hochul apologized at the time, saying "I misspoke and I regret it."
Hochul answered the criticism on the campaign trail. According to Billboard, she told Minaj to "stop going to Trump rallies," adding that the rallies were "poisoning her mind." Newsday reported that Hochul also told Minaj to "Get outside."
The exchange reached radio and podcast audiences the next day. The Breakfast Club, the New York morning show, addressed the posts on its Oct. 29 episode. Host Charlamagne tha God said Minaj's comments lacked "moral consistency." The show's own X account said Minaj was "back in the political space" and called Hochul an "evil woman."
AP News described Minaj as a Trump-supporting rapper in its live coverage of the dispute.
The governor's race continues, and the exchange sits alongside a busy stretch of campaign news in the state.
