Bryan Adams has released a new single, "Lake Ontario," that criticizes US President Donald Trump. The song came out on 28 October 2026, according to National Post. It is the latest single from Adams' forthcoming studio album, How's It Goin', which is due on 6 November 2026, according to Bryan Adams' official website.

Lake Ontario straddles the border between the United States and Canada. The province of Ontario is named after the lake, not the other way around. According to The Guardian, the song accuses Trump of breaking the peace between people who live on the lake's shores. Its lyrics say the name means "lake of shining waters," which is what the Iroquois called the lake, and describe it as a First Nations name rather than one created by an executive order.

The song responds to a move from earlier this year. In August, Trump signed an executive order, a formal directive to government agencies, instructing US federal agencies to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America. Trump had previously renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

The lyrics link the renaming to the war in Iran and to renewed scrutiny of the Jeffrey Epstein files. They describe the renaming as a distraction from those matters.

Adams has addressed Trump before in song. He released "51st State" on 1 July, Canada Day, as a repudiation of Trump's efforts to annex Canada, meaning to take control of it by force or pressure. According to The Guardian, Adams first performed that song in public in the United States, where he received a standing ovation every night.

Adams has described his recent songwriting project as a love letter to Canada. The project began with an invitation from a film company to write about Canada's Maritime provinces.
