Al Jazeera Marks 30th Anniversary With Network Overhaul

Al Jazeera is marking its 30th anniversary with a transformation of the network, including a new three-channel structure for its Arabic-language broadcasting.
The Qatar-based network launched on November 1, 1996. Al Jazeera said the changes include 33 programmes designed to offer more in-depth coverage and analysis.
Among the new services, Al Jazeera Mubasher, which began broadcasting in 2005, will focus on uninterrupted live coverage of events, without commentary from presenters or correspondents. The new Al Jazeera Now service will follow developments as they unfold, with no scheduled news bulletins and no fixed programme grid.
The flagship Al Jazeera Arabic channel will keep its news bulletins, while shifting its emphasis toward in-depth analysis and investigative journalism. Asef Hamidi, who was appointed managing director of Al Jazeera Arabic in September 2025, oversees that operation.
Al Jazeera said its fourth decade will be guided by three priorities: immediacy, understanding and the human dimension. Sheikh Nasser bin Faisal Al Thani is director general of Al Jazeera Media Network.
