Ubisoft Says No Other Assassin's Creed Remake Is in Active Development

Ubisoft has said it has no other Assassin's Creed remake in active development. The statement, reported by Engadget on October 29, 2026, came as the publisher closed out support for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, which released on July 9, 2026.

Ubisoft also said its teams are focused on the next chapter of Assassin's Creed titles, including unannounced projects with new settings and stories. No titles, platforms or release windows have been named for those projects.

The final major update for Black Flag Resynced added New Game+ and a higher difficulty tier. Ubisoft's newsroom listed an October 26, 2026 update that added Nightmare Difficulty and new rewards hidden throughout the open world, and the studio described the final major content update as including brand new takedowns. The update was logged as version 1.0.8, and IGN Latinoamérica reported that it introduced New Game+, a second playthrough that carries progress over from the first. In the game, New Game+ begins automatically once the main story is completed, with no further action required from the player.

Ubisoft's newsroom carried an October 27, 2026 item stating that Saltatio Mortis and Visions of Atlantis created a sea shanty, "Reckless Sailor," for the game. Saltatio Mortis lead singer Jörg Roth discussed rewriting the classic "Drunken Sailor" for the project. A further newsroom article, titled "Assassin's Creed: Fall 2026 Update," was listed for October 29, 2026, covering recent releases and what is planned next.

Ubisoft describes New Game+ for Assassin's Creed Valhalla as an optional progression mode in which Gear, Runes and Masteries carry forward to contribute to Eivor's progression. That mode is scheduled for November 5, 2026, so it has not yet gone live at the time of writing.

In March 2026, Ubisoft published "Assassin's Creed: Into 2026," which outlined the publisher's plans across the brand for the following months. Black Flag Resynced reached 3 million in sales, according to an IGN Portugal report dated July 20, 2026, and IGN included the franchise in its "Best Video Games of 2026 (So Far)" list published October 15, 2026.

In my view, the distinction Ubisoft is drawing matters for players and for the people building these titles. A remake reuses an existing engine, art direction and level design, while a new-setting entry starts from a blank production plan. A statement about the remake pipeline therefore says little about the schedule for the next mainline game. The announcement gives no timeline for either, and it would be premature to read the remake statement as a signal about the rest of the slate.

The broader context here is the content cadence itself. Nightmare Difficulty, hidden rewards, takedowns, a sea shanty and an optional New Game+ path for Valhalla all extend existing systems rather than introduce new ones. Players who want a longer tail on Black Flag Resynced now have a harder mode and a replay loop. The open question is when Ubisoft will say what the unannounced projects look like.
